The Tickborne Illness + Infections Panel is most often used to rule in or out contributing Lyme disease, bacterial infections or viral infections in chronic conditions. This test is very comprehensive, and is the most accurate Lyme disease test available. It is carried out at-home and so it may be easier for people who are unable to travel or attend phlebotomy.
Who can benefit from this test?
Your nutritionist may recommend this test if you have:

Dried Blood Spot (at home)
This test measures antibodies against bacteria and viruses that may have been active in the past (IgG) and recent or reactivated infections (IgM). It is one of the most specific and sensitive tests available for Lyme Disease according to published data by Vibrant Wellness, read here, and internal quality data read here.
This test measures: (Basic panel includes only)
- Borellia species - a number of Borellia species identified to cause Lyme disease
- Babesia, Bartonella – common bacterial infections from ticks
- Ehrlichia and Anaplasma
Also included on the advanced panel are the following:
- Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Rickettsia, Streptococcal A bacteria
- Viral-co-infections such as Cocksackie, tickborne encephalitis virus, Toxoplasma gondii
Plus viral infections:
- EBV / Epstein Barr Virus - both IgG and IgM of the Early Antigen, EBNA and VCA antigens which can help to discriminate between older/ previous infections which are very common, or recent or reactivated infection which can be contributing to chronic illness
- Cytomegalovirus, Parvovirus 19 – commonly found in the population as previous infections
- Herpes Simplex Virus – HSV-1 and HSV-2
- Human herpesvirus – HHV-6 and HHV-7
Ciara had Long Covid from an infection 3 years prior. Many of her symptoms had improved with treatment and various interventions but she still suffered from excessive fatigue, PEM, headache and sore throat. She was unable to work full time and while her function had improved from her worst point, she was unable to exercise and she still had to pace carefully. She did not recall a previous tick bite, but had spent a very significant amount of time in the countryside and woods where deer were common. In order to investigate whether she had a reactivation of Lyme Disease, she carried out a tickborne illness and co-infections panel.
Key findings (excerpt from test):
- Positive for Borrelia burgdorferi IgG – reached the positive threshold for previous infection
- Elevated IgM against Bartonella – a positive finding for recent or reactivated infection
- With subsequent treatment from her consultant along with supportive herbs, an anti-microbial and immune supportive protocol, Ciara improved significantly. Her throat symptoms cleared, fatigue improved significantly and she no longer experienced PEM. Ciara made a full recovery after her treatment.
